Dual-layered window treatment combo in Manhattan
A Two-Layer Setup That Solves Light, Privacy, and Style in One Move
A recent client on the Upper West Side wanted a window treatment that did more than block light. They work from home, sometimes have long video-call days, and need something that could shift from “bright and open” to “focused and private” without juggling cords or standing up every time the sun moves.

We designed a dual-layer system: motorized roller shades mounted closest to the glass, paired with a motorized Roman shade that adds warmth, texture, and a bit of personality.
The roller shades give them precise light control throughout the day. A quick tap drops the shade to cut glare, and the 10 percent solar fabric still keeps the view outside visible. When they want complete privacy or a softer look on camera, they drop the Roman shade. It brings depth, color, and a finished look that the office was missing.
Everything runs on a quiet, motorized system, synced with remote and app-based control.
No chains, no hassle, and no bulky hardware cluttering the window.
Bottom line: This setup gives the homeowner flexibility, better light control for working, and a polished design element that ties the room together. Two layers, one smart system, built for real NYC living.
If you have windows that need both function and personality, dual-layer motorized combos are one of the smartest upgrades you can make.
