Brooklyn Window Treatment Installation
Drapes or curtains? Look online at five different sites, and you likely get five different opinions on what constitutes a curtain vs. a drape. Especially if you factor in American English vs British English, it is a bit overwhelming. Generally, people use the term drape when the material is thick, blocks out light completely, and has the option to puddle on the floor. But other people use the word curtain for everything. Sometimes, people use sheer curtains close to the window and drapes on top of the sheer curtain, giving the option to let in some light or no light. The most important thing is to get what you want for your windows, no matter the term. Thus, for this project, we use drapes and curtains.
Park Slope is a beautiful neighborhood known for its brownstones, compost bins, and family-friendly atmosphere. Our lovely clients were looking for custom drapes to complete their home. They recently wallpapered this bedroom and wanted the drapes/curtains to accentuate the wallpaper and the windows. We gave them fabric and color samples so they could be sure of their choice. All our drapes and curtains are custom fabricated with high-end material that looks nice, feels good to the touch, and is durable. The last thing you want is curtains that fade from sunlight.
The color is bold but balances well against the wallpaper and furniture. The ceiling molding looks great just above. Remember, when measuring for drapes or curtains, ensure they fully cover the window without strain if you plan to open and close them often.
